Amazon Associates Program
PawPicks is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated Amazon stores worldwide.
When you click on an Amazon link on our site and make a purchase within 24 hours, we earn a small percentage of that sale, typically between 1% and 10% depending on the product category. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you click through our link or go to Amazon directly.
How It Works
- You visit PawPicks and read a product review
- You click a "Check Price on Amazon" button
- Amazon places a cookie in your browser for 24 hours
- If you purchase that product within 24 hours, we earn a commission
- You pay exactly the same price as you would without our link
Does This Affect Our Recommendations?
No. Our editorial decisions are completely independent of affiliate commissions. We do not rank products based on which ones pay higher commission rates. We do not feature products simply because they generate more revenue for us.
In fact, some of our top-ranked products, such as budget litters and basic open litter pans, generate very small commissions compared to premium alternatives. We recommend them anyway because they are genuinely the best option for many pet owners.
Other Affiliate Programs
Besides Amazon, PawPicks is registered with two affiliate networks, CJ and Awin, which between them handle the links to retailers and brands that do not sell through Amazon. A link into either network works the same way as an Amazon link: the retailer pays us a share of the sale, and you pay the ordinary price. Why Our Links Carry a Channel Code
Some of our Amazon links look slightly longer than others because they carry a tracking code that tells us which part of PawPicks the click came from. Cat litter pages use one, dog food pages another, and posts we publish on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook each have their own. The code is about our own reporting, nothing else. It records that a click came from a category or a social post; it does not identify you, it is not sold to anyone, and it has no effect on the price you pay or on what Amazon shows you.
We do this because a single shared code makes every click look identical, and then we cannot tell useful writing from writing that nobody acts on. Separating them lets us put effort where readers actually find it worthwhile, which is the whole business model working as intended rather than a hidden extra.
What the Commission Pays For
Commission income covers hosting, the domain, the tools we use to check that links still work, and the products we buy to look at properly. PawPicks takes no payment from a brand for placement, no payment for a favourable rating, and no payment to remove a criticism. If that ever changes, this page changes with it, on the same day, and the date below will say so.
