Our Mission
The pet industry is worth over $150 billion globally, and it is full of overpriced products, misleading marketing, and sponsored recommendations disguised as honest reviews. We started PawPicks to change that.
Our mission is simple: find the best pet products at every price point, research and compare them honestly, and present our findings clearly so any pet owner can make a confident decision in minutes instead of hours. Every comparison is based on verified buyer reviews, ingredient labels, and spec analysis.
Who We Are
PawPicks is written by Liv, who lives in Haarlem, Netherlands with two dogs, Teddy and Bear, and a cat called Fountain. Meet Liv. The site does not accept payments from brands to feature their products, does not allow advertisers to influence rankings, and discloses every affiliate relationship transparently.
We are animal lovers first, and writers second. Every product on this site is researched the way we would research it for our own pets.
How We Research
Before a sentence goes on a page it has to be traceable to one of five things, and the page says which one. A hands-on note means a named reviewer used the product in her own home, and we say who she is, which animal, and for how long. Buyer evidence means verified reviews on the retailer's own listing, quoted with the rating and the number of ratings behind it. Spec means the manufacturer's own sheet or the ingredient label. Published means a citable third party such as a veterinary body or a standards organisation. Checked means Benjamin verified it himself and we record the date.
Our hands-on notes come from Willemijn in Lisse, who has kept animals for around 45 years and buys the products she writes about with her own money. She is a friend of the founder, she is not paid for her notes, and no brand sends her free samples. That connection is printed next to her comments rather than buried in the footer, because it is exactly the sort of thing a careful reader wants to weigh. Where she has only researched a product rather than lived with it, the page says that too, in a separate line.
Ratings and prices move, so we stamp them. When you see four and a half stars from a few thousand ratings on one of our pages, the date we read that figure sits with it. An old number that pretends to be today's number is the most common way a review site quietly stops being true.
What We Do Not Do
We do not own a laboratory, we run no clinical trials, and we have no measuring equipment. Any site claiming otherwise should be able to show you the room. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not let a brand see a review before it publishes, and we do not use a stock photograph of a stranger as an author. Liv writes the site and has chosen not to publish a photograph of herself, which is her call to make.
Our Values
Independence
We are not sponsored by any brand. Our rankings are based entirely on product quality, customer reviews, and value for money. No brand can pay to appear higher in our lists.
Honesty
We include cons for every product we recommend. If something has a real weakness, we say so, even if it is our top pick. No product is perfect and we do not pretend otherwise.
Transparency
We earn a small commission when you buy through our Amazon links. This does not affect our rankings or recommendations. We disclose this on every page because you deserve to know.
Pet Welfare First
We never recommend a product we would not use ourselves. Pet health and safety is always the first criterion in every review we publish.
